#406 closed enhancement (fixed)

terminology sample vs. pixel

Reported by: bbross Owned by: bbross

Description

From dI editing notes:
[Ed. (GJS): Is a pixel something like a sample, or is it something else?]
[Ed. (GJS): Study/apply consistency with respect to "pixel" versus "sample". Are they different things?]

Currently pixel is used in

  • in-loop filters semantics for pcm_loop_filter_disable_flag and sao_band_position
  • in-loop filters processes
  • 8.4.3 Decoding process for intra blocks
  • Annex A in Table A-1/A-4/A-5 "Max luma pixel rate MaxLumaPR (samples/sec)", pixel rate in samples/sec?

In my opinion, all occurrences of pixel* could be replaced by sample*.
